President’s Message

Welcome back to a new and exiting year (2019-2020) at COPS, our first meeting is on September 10, 2019.  We’ve listened to your suggestions and thanks to Tom Irish and Ray Putnam we have focused and interesting program ahead. Planned are: Speakers, Learning, Photo Review, Sharing, Teaching, Outings.  As well, thanks to Tom, we are starting a mentorship program this year to help and encourage our newer members. All our efforts are focused on our mandate to Share Learn and Grow.  Go to our website to learn more:  I’m looking forward to seeing you in September.

January 8 – Creative Images by Linda Miller

For the first meeting of 2019, Linda Miller, Zone Director for the CAPA Pacific Zone will give us some insight into shooting and processing creative images.

Don’t forget – this is image submission night. Bring your print submissions to the meeting and submit the digital copies of your prints and your digital images by midnight.

November 6 – GOAS Light Trails

Go Out and Shoot light trails of cars at the overpass at Parkinson Recreation Centre.

Dress warm. For those not familiar with this type of shooting, information regarding camera settings will be provided and we can buddy up. Equipment needed will be tripod, camera, remote shutter (if you have one) and if it is raining bring an umbrella. Also, prints for submissions for the November 13 Evaluation Night can be given to Barb Charlton at the same place, Parkinson Rec Center overpass. Digital submissions must be made online before midnight.

There will be no meeting at the EECO Centre because the EECO Centre is closed all week for renovations

Website Update for New Season

With the 2018 – 2019 season about to start on September 11th, the website has been updated:

  • Calendar has been filled in until Christmas with the proposed schedule.
  • Submission documents have been updated with the new evaluation dates and themes.
  • Submission documents have been updated with the new mat size for prints – 24 X 18 inches.
  • The new executive names have been added to the Info -> Executive page.
  • The contact list has been updated.
  • A set of new banners has been added for the tops of pages, selected from last year’s overall winners, runners up and honorable mentions. The banner shown will be selected randomly every time you return to the site, change to another menu item, or refresh the page.

Check the website often to see new information added to the calendar, to check announcements.

Field Trip June 24th – Rock Creek Rodeo

Sunday 24th June

Admission $20.00

Meet at Eco Centre 9:00 a.m.

Rodeo starts at 1:00 and will most likely finish between 4:00 and 4:30.

Drive is about 1 hour 45 minutes so we will also have the time to stop and shoot any interesting sights on the journey.
